The Bilbao Chess Masters Final took place 14th to 20th September 2014. Viswanathan Anand played his last event before challenging Carlsen in Sochi in November. Levon Aronian, Ruslan Ponomariov and Paco Vallejo made up the field. 4 players 6 rounds. Took place alongside the European Club Cup. Games and results. Viswanathan Anand won due to the scoring method of 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. He scored 11/18. Aronian defeated him in the last round but only finished on 10 points. Ponomariov and Vallejo tied for third after all tie-break systems were exhausted.
